Cardiovascular Institute of
the South (CIS)
Why CIS Joined CVL
Our mission and patient-centric focus set the stage for CIS to become the inaugural practice in the CVL platform.

What Sets CIS Apart
Here are just a few of the innovation “firsts” that continue to define the work of this premier cardiovascular practice:
- 1st in the Gulf South to use the new FDA-approved Esprit™ BTK (Below the Knee) Everolimus Eluting Resorbable Scaffold System. Dr. Pradeep Nair used this first-of-its-kind dissolvable stent to treat chronic limb-threatening ischemia in the lower legs in a procedure performed in May 2024.
- 1st in the country to use the new Aperta NSE™ PTA Balloon to treat vascular disease in the legs. Dr. Matthew Finn performed the procedure in May 2024 at a CIS ASC using this cutting-edge device.
- 1st in Louisiana to treat a patient using the new FDA approved Evolut™ FX+transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) system, a minimally-invasive alternative to open-heart surgical aortic valve replacement. Dr. Peter Fail, Dr. Shane Prejean, and Dr. Deborah McCollum performed the procedure in June 2024.
