Peripheral Vascular Disease Fellowship
Led by world-renowned interventionalist Dr. Craig Walker, this fellowship is designed for interventional cardiologists seeking advanced, hands-on training in peripheral vascular interventions. Fellows gain exposure to leading-edge technologies in high-volume settings, working alongside expert CIS physicians in a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) and Office-Based Lab (OBL).
Key Training Areas
- ~400 PAD interventional procedures per fellow
- Chronic limb ischemia and total occlusion therapies
- Exposure to alternate access techniques (axillary, brachial, pedal, etc.)
- Use of advanced tools: IVUS, laser/rotational/directional atherectomy
- Superficial venous therapies: RFA, laser, and Varithena
- Alternate access pedal, axillary, brachial, antegrade aortic occlusion, aortic bi iliac reconstruction, vena cava bi iliac reconstruction, and pedal loop reconstructions
- Venograms to identify venous thrombectomy, May-Thurner, and central venous compression
- Access to first-in-class devices and clinical research trials

- Clinical time includes both procedural training and patient evaluations
- On-site CRNA support and full-time invasive ultrasound technologists
- Full time invasive ultrasound technologists provide ultrasound guided access to difficult arteries and veins
- Engagement with the medical device industry for career networking
- EVAR, carotid stenting, single-vessel PCI
- Complex referrals sent from other physicians around the world

Eligibility Requirements
- Board certification in cardiology and/or interventional cardiology
- Louisiana medical license or eligibility to obtain
- U.S. citizenship or green card
Housing and travel expenses are the fellow’s responsibility. Professional liability insurance is provided.

Endovascular Fellowship
This immersive fellowship is one of the most robust vascular interventional programs in the Southeast. Under the direction of Dr. Yazan Khatib, fellows receive comprehensive exposure to arterial and venous interventions, wound care, and fistula management in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Key Training Areas
- 50% cath lab, 50% inpatient consultation service
- Primary responsibility for inpatient care
- Qualification for ABVM, PVI, or RVT certification exams
- ~2,500 cardiovascular procedures annually across FCCI and affiliates

- First in NE Florida with an independent outpatient cath lab
- Early adopter of carotid artery stenting and drug-eluting peripheral stents

Eligibility Requirements
