The 5 Pillars That Define A Premier Cardiovascular Platform

Published on March 20, 2025

For cardiology practices that view joining a cardiovascular platform as the next step in their journey, choosing the right partner is essential. And when you evaluate a cardiovascular platform, it’s vital to understand their mission and ensure it aligns with your practice.

Yet, it’s equally critical to assess how the platform operationalizes the mission through strategy and execution. At Cardiovascular Logistics (CVL), five key pillars set the foundation for living out our mission to provide our patients with the highest quality cardiovascular care available. Here’s a look at the five pillars we believe define a premier cardiovascular platform, and how they impact our strategic direction and enable our operational excellence.

People

It takes top-tier talent to shape the future of cardiovascular medicine and improve how care is delivered. That’s why CVL attracts physicians and other professionals who view their work as a calling, not a career. We continue to draw premier cardiologists who want to practice medicine using the most advanced technology, including talented fellows deciding where to begin their life’s work.

Our financial resources allow us to recruit and retain premier healthcare providers and administrative staff, offer competitive compensation and benefits, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities. The results of our employee engagement surveys demonstrate our success in developing a positive, rewarding culture. Some of our practices have even been hailed as award-winning places to work in their respective markets.

Service

CVL is committed to providing easy access to innovative cardiovascular services that improve patients’ health and quality of life. By investing in the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies, we ensure our practices can offer the most effective services to patients in their communities. In fact, CVL practices are often the first in their market to implement a particular cutting-edge technology.

For example, Capital Cardiology Associates (CCA) was a pioneer in establishing a walk-in cardiovascular clinic to provide same-day appointments for patients with non-emergency symptoms—a model that Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) now offers in Louisiana. Other CVL practices have been the first in their area to perform procedures using the newest devices and equipment. These include the Pounce™ Venous Thrombectomy System for removing challenging venous clots in the leg without medications, the Esprit™ BTK (Below the Knee) Everolimus Eluting Resorbable Scaffold System and percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) balloon for treating vascular disease in the legs, and many more.

CVL practices are also highly regarded for improving care access through innovative facilities and programs, including office-based labs, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), and the unique at-home Cardiac Recovery Program offered by Clearwater Cardiovascular Consultants (CCC).

These are just a few of the many ways we turn the service pillar into action, leading the way in expanding access to mission-critical cardiovascular care.

Quality

The definition of quality may be up for debate across healthcare, but there’s no disputing that quality cardiovascular care must involve managing controllable risk factors. This principle is a cornerstone of the quality pillar at CVL.

Our award-winning work in reducing hypertension is a prime example. Year after year, CVL practices have achieved the Gold+ Award from Target:BP™, an initiative designed to improve blood pressure control. Both CIS and First Coast Cardiovascular Institute (FCCI) regularly achieve a hypertension control rate exceeding 80%, well above the program goal. CVL practices also earn top awards annually in the Check. Change. Control. Cholesterol™ program, recognizing our efforts to manage cholesterol in at-risk patients through statin therapy where appropriate.

The input of our Physician Advisory Councils (PACs) is instrumental in improving quality outcomes and a mainstay of our quality pillar. Over 65 physicians participate in 12 PACs covering a wide range of disease states and service areas. By bringing together their passion, knowledge, and expertise, our PACs help to keep every CVL practice focused on improving patient health and quality of life.

Growth

In the first eight months since launching our platform, CVL grew from 65 cardiologists to 150. And our platform continues to expand with the addition of more top-tier physicians and new practices that share our vision and mission.

A growing cardiovascular platform provides the scale to impact the direction of cardiovascular care on a national level. It affords greater leverage when negotiating with payers and suppliers, creating group purchasing power that benefits every practice by driving down costs. And it yields more opportunities for like-minded physicians to collaborate and share best practices for improving clinical outcomes and optimizing operations. When one practice considers launching a new service line or adopting a new treatment technology, they can reach out to another CVL practice that has already done it successfully.

Finance

A national cardiovascular platform with significant financial backing brings the resources to invest in innovations that improve patient care and health outcomes. Practices that partner with CVL appreciate the benefits that access to capital affords, including the ability to bring the most advanced diagnostic and treatment services to patients in their communities.

Technology is just one area where the financial resources of a national cardiovascular platform pays substantial dividends. For example, CVL recognizes that PET/CT provides a high degree of specificity in evaluating patients to determine if they’re experiencing ischemia due to atherosclerosis or an artery blockage. In turn, we’ve made the significant investment to add 10 PET/CT scanners across our platform—in many cases, replacing other costly equipment because we’re committed to bringing the most effective diagnostic technology to our patients.

The financial pillar also ensures our practices stay focused on operational efficiency—not only to reduce unnecessary costs, but to deliver timely, empathetic service and improve the overall experience for patients.

Over the course of 2025, CVL will continue to strengthen each of these pillars in support of our mission. We’re expanding access to chronic care management for patients with cardiovascular disease. We’re implementing mobile cardiac telemetry on a much broader level, so patients can go about their daily lives while we monitor their symptoms. And we continue to ramp up our participation in clinical trials, to bring patients the benefit of the latest developments in cardiovascular medicine.

CVL’s five pillars are essential to achieving our mission: To provide our patients with the highest quality cardiovascular care available. And our patients serve as the foundation of those pillars, as they drive everything we do at CVL.

If your cardiology practice is committed to advancing cardiovascular medicine and transforming how cardiovascular care is delivered in the US, we invite you to join us.
